Celebrating Zimbabwe Excellence in the Genomic Medicine

Professor Masimirembwa’s achievements include: –

• Pioneer Award of genomic medicine at the Precision Medicine World Congress (PMWC) in Santa Clara (USA) earlier in 2025.

• Inclusion in the New African magazine’s list of the top 100 most influential Africans in 2024 for laying the foundations of African Genomic Medicine.

• Leading the African Institute of Biomedical Science and Technology (AiBST), championing translational biomedical research in Zimbabwe.

In her congratulatory remarks, Ambassador Alice Mashingaidze emphasized the significance of this award, noting its importance in strengthening Zimbabwe-Germany partnerships in in the medical sector. professor Masimirembwa has initiated discussions with the University of the Hedelberg to build capacity for clinical trails in Zimbabwe, aiming to evaluate the safety and efficacy of medicines for Zimbabwean populations.
